What this extension does
Fantasy Fiend Connect is a companion browser extension for Fantasy Fiend (fantasy-fiend.com). It reads your ESPN Fantasy Football login cookies and hands them to the Fantasy Fiend web application so it can import your league history from ESPN.
For a Sleeper league, it reads your Sleeper account number so Fantasy Fiend can confirm which team in the league is yours.
While you have an ESPN live draft room open, it also keeps a copy of the picks shown in that room so Fantasy Fiend can record your draft as it happens (see ESPN draft room below).
What data we access
From espn.com, the extension reads exactly two cookies:
espn_s2SWID
From sleeper.com, it reads ONE value: user_id, the number Sleeper uses for your account, which already appears on your league's public rosters. It never reads Sleeper's sign-in token, your email, or anything else Sleeper keeps in your browser.
These are the cookies ESPN's own site sets when you log into ESPN Fantasy Football. They are not passwords — they're session credentials that let an application read your ESPN fantasy data on your behalf, the same way they let your browser show you your own team when you visit ESPN.
The extension does not read any other cookie, any browsing history, any page content outside of espn.com and fantasy-fiend.com (on sleeper.com it reads only the one value above, and no page content), or any personal information you haven't explicitly asked it to fetch.
When we access it
The extension reads these cookies only when you take an action that requires them — opening the extension's popup (to check whether you're logged into ESPN), clicking "Connect ESPN" inside the Fantasy Fiend web app, or choosing your team on Fantasy Fiend's claim page. It reads your Sleeper account number only when you click Connect for a Sleeper league, or Use my Sleeper sign-in, in the Fantasy Fiend web app. It does not read cookies or your Sleeper account number in the background, on a timer, or without you having initiated the request that session.
If it can't read your login state any other way, the extension may open an ESPN or Sleeper page in a background tab and close it automatically within seconds. The tab is opened in the background (it may briefly appear in your tab strip) and loads the site the way an ordinary visit would. It exists only to read the values above, not to browse ESPN or Sleeper on your behalf.
ESPN draft room
While an ESPN live draft room is open in your browser (fantasy.espn.com/football/draft), the extension reads the picks that room displays — pick number, player name, NFL team, position, and the fantasy team that made the pick — every 10 seconds. With them it keeps the league, season and team numbers from the draft room's address, the time of capture, and the league's team count. This is the one read that runs on a timer, and only while that page is open. It reads nothing else on the page and makes no network request.
Those picks are kept in the extension's local storage in your browser until the Fantasy Fiend web app collects them and confirms it received them; the extension then deletes them. They are draft results for your league, not a cookie or a credential.
What happens to the data
When the values are found, the extension shares them with the Fantasy Fiend web application running in your browser tab (fantasy-fiend.com, or a local development copy at localhost:3000 during development). Fantasy Fiend's application then uses those values to authenticate to ESPN's API, import your fantasy league history and keep it up to date, including on a schedule (see the Privacy Policy) — team rosters, standings, matchup results, draft history, and similar league data tied to the ESPN league(s) you connect.
Fantasy Fiend also compares your Sleeper account number (and, for ESPN, your SWID) with the league's member list, and records whether it matched the team you chose.
The extension also makes one direct network request of its own: a verification call to ESPN's public Fantasy API (fantasy.espn.com), using your cookies, to confirm your league ID is valid and to read your league's name and team count before handing that confirmation back to the Fantasy Fiend app. Apart from the background tab described above, no other outbound network request originates from the extension itself.
The cookie values and your Sleeper account number are never displayed on screen, logged in a way any human reviews, or written anywhere by the extension itself.
What we don't do
- No persistence of your sign-in in the extension. The extension does not store your cookies, your Sleeper account number, or any identifier about you in Chrome's local storage, session storage, or any on-disk cache. Every read happens fresh, in memory, for the single request that triggered it, and is discarded when that request completes. The one exception is the ESPN draft-room picks described above, which are held in local storage only until the Fantasy Fiend app collects them.
- No analytics or tracking. The extension contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no usage telemetry, and no third-party script of any kind.
- No third-party sharing. The extension sends your data to only two destinations: ESPN's own API (to validate your league) and the Fantasy Fiend web application in your active tab (to deliver the values you asked it to fetch). It makes no API call of its own to Sleeper and sends nothing to Sleeper; its only contact with Sleeper is the background sleeper.com tab described above, which it opens and closes. Nothing is sent to any advertising network, data broker, or other third party.
- No sale of data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data — ESPN cookies, league data, or otherwise — to anyone, under any circumstances.
Data retention
Once your ESPN cookies reach the Fantasy Fiend web application, retention is governed by the Fantasy Fiend Privacy Policy and your account settings, not by this extension — the extension itself retains nothing (see above).
Fantasy Fiend retains imported league data for as long as your account is active. To delete your imported data, email legal@slingshotfrontiers.com from the address on your account and we'll handle it manually — see the main privacy policy for details.
Your choices
You can revoke this extension's access at any time by removing it from Chrome (chrome://extensions). Removing the extension does not by itself delete data already imported into Fantasy Fiend — see Data Retention above for how to remove that separately.
Without the extension, you can still claim a Sleeper team by typing your Sleeper username.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what data is collected or how it's used, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where required by the Chrome Web Store, republish the extension with the updated disclosure.
